Developing a Low-Cost Systemic Approach for Data Normalization
A global medical-device maker's supplier data was siloed and inconsistent, breaking reporting. Trexin built an 'MDM-lite' solution on the tools they already owned (faster ingestion, automated auditing, change-history tracking) with no new license fees.
Challenge
A global medical-device company’s supplier data lived in siloed tables with inconsistent formats and heavy manual cleanup. When a supplier showed up under multiple names across regions or systems, it was grouped incorrectly, distorting reporting on revenue, supply-chain impact, and performance.
Approach
A short feasibility study showed the Client wasn’t ready for a full commercial master-data-management (MDM) system, so we built a focused, cost-effective “MDM-lite” on tools they already owned: Microsoft Power Apps, Power BI, and Snowflake. It added automated auditing and a faster ingestion method for large record sets. We documented the end-to-end workflow, produced architecture diagrams as a forward roadmap, wrote end-user guides, and worked closely with enterprise IT to keep technical and business needs aligned.
Outcome
Load times dropped sharply and navigation tightened (fewer clicks), so users finished tasks faster. A new change-history view let them review past edits and evaluate name changes before finalizing, improving accuracy and data governance. The “MDM-lite” approach incurred no additional license fees and needed only minimal new support.
Why Trexin
We right-sized the solution to the Client’s readiness, not the biggest tool, the right one.
