Managing, Monitoring & Governing Data with Trading Partners
Trexin served as data delivery lead building a large health payer's external data management system: governed, traceable data exchange that reduces the risk of sensitive-data disclosure, delivered on time and on budget.
Challenge
A large healthcare payer was increasingly sharing information with external trading partners through bespoke integration channels. They wanted stronger assurance of compliance with state and federal regulations on data-exchange traceability, and more uniform protection of confidential business information: a robust external data management, monitoring, and governance platform to reduce the risk of sensitive-data disclosure. They asked Trexin to serve as data delivery lead.
Approach
The team used a lean, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) approach: two-week sprints and 12-week program increments grouped into three sequential focus areas: outbound exchange, inbound exchange, and extended automation with enhanced decision processing. Each increment opened with PI Planning and a Sprint Zero that set a future-state vision against a current-state assessment (for example, 32 features across 7 epics in the first increment). The architecture extended the company’s ServiceNow cloud for the UI, integrated via SnowMirror to a new SQL-based external-data repository, and connected to internal sources and the company’s Axway data gateway.
Outcome
The external data management system was operationalized, legacy components retired, and the project delivered on time and on budget. Beyond a governance framework that reduces disclosure risk and improves regulatory traceability, the system added management and monitoring features, automated processes, and streamlined workflows.
Why Trexin
Governed data exchange isn’t glamorous, it’s exactly the kind of disciplined foundation regulated enterprises depend on.
